Southside Family Nurturing Center

SSFNC Hires Child and Family Therapist

We are pleased to announce that we have hired Margaret Evans, LPC to provide clinical mental health services to children and families enrolled in Southside's Center Based and Home Based programs. This is a service that we have long wanted to offer to our families and is made possible thanks to support from a City of Minneapolis Community Development Block Grant.

Margaret previously worked as the Lead Therapist at Fraser Child and Family Center in Minneapolis from 2004-2007. She also currently works as an Art Therapist at Fairview Hospitals. She received her B.A. in Studio Art in 1999 and an M.A. in Art Therapy Counseling in 2004 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

The new Child and Family Therapy program will serve approximately 20% of our children and their parents at any given time. Margaret will work with our teaching staff and Family Workers to identify children who would benefit from these clinical services. Following parental permission, children and their families will receive regular therapeutic interventions using play and art therapy. As parents develop trust in this new program, we expect to serve a greater percentage of our clients.

We are very pleased to be able to offer these additional services to our families and welcome Margaret to Southside.
