SSFNC Hires Children's Program Director
The Early Childhood Education Services is at the core of what we do here at Southside. Over the past 34 years, we have served thousands of children through this critical family focused early intervention program, this holistic approach works with the entire family to prevent child abuse and neglect and promote family stability.
In March 2008, through support from the Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation, SSFNC initiated this position and successfully hired Beth Barrett as our new full-time Children's Program Director. Beth's responsibilities will include oversight for all aspects of children's programming; including supervising the lead teachers and all children's program support staff, curriculum development, management of our licensing and accreditation processes and creation and realization of any new children's programming. She will work closely with Brad Hanson, our Family Programs Director, in facilitating our holistic model of working with children and families.
Beth has been working at SSFNC since 2005. She began as a teacher in the PM Preschool class, and assumed the lead teacher role in 2006. Prior to coming to SSFNC, she worked for two years through Americorps at Southside Family School, a K-8 charter school in Minneapolis. She has also taught in various schools in Boston and New York City, mostly with children with special needs. Beth earned her BA in Alternative Education from Goddard College in Vermont and is currently pursuing an MA in Early Childhood Special Education at St. Thomas University in St. Paul.
We are pleased to have Beth in this new and essential position that will see our Early Childhood Education Services into the future as we continue to enhance the services that we provide to our families here at Southside.
