Family Day Librarian Visit

In April, Families joined their children at SSFNC for a family event with our local librarians. The event included interactive story telling and the librarians generously gifted the families books in their home languages to take home, read together, and keep. We are following up with families to sign them up for library cards.

New Mud Kitchen

Long-time Waldorf educator, Melissa McPartland, volunteered with our teachers to integrate dramatic play into their lesson plans and classroom environment. Most recently she built a swing and a mud kitchen for our outdoor play space. The children are enjoying these new elements and we are grateful to Melissa for her many contributions to our center!

Field Trips to the MIA and Nature Centers

The Bobcat class has spent the month of April exploring storytelling through art. They went on a field trip to the MIA on April 22 to see Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys as a culmination of their learning. The MIA generously donated tickets for us to see the exhibit for free.

On May 6, both of our preschool classes went to Dodge Nature Center to learn about hens and roosters. Dodge Nature Center provided scholarships to make this field trip possible for our students. The toddler class will go to Westwood Hills Nature Center this week.
